Raspunsul lui Elizabeth mi se paru a fi unul sovaitor. Folosise genul de ton cu care oamenii incearca sa se autoconvinga de anumite lucruri , chiar daca faptele vorbesc impotriva lor. Totusi, nu am mai adaugat nimic la afirmatia tinerei.
Rasuflam sacadat, incercand sa-mi amintesc daca mai avusesem vreo experienta de genul acesta . In minte imi revenira alte imagini, cu straini imbracati in pelerine negre stand in jurul unui sarpe. Nu reuseam sa-mi dau seama daca ma apropiasem sau nu de acea reptila - amintirile erau invaluite in ceata. - Nici eu, am raspuns, calma.
