Il privi cu parere de rau, oftand; intr-un fel se simtea ciudat pentru faptul ca Dave nu se distrase. Lucru ce demonstra cat de mult ii pasa, in continuare; era constienta ca ar fi trebuit sa renunte la chestia asta. Era mult prea tarziu - nu putea sa mai faca nimic. Il pierduse pe Dave, iar acum putea sa il aiba totusi din nou, ca prieten. Inca o avea pe Nessie, il avea pe el. Poate nu era chiar atat de ingrozitor; viata ei era o nebunie totusi, daca o privea in ansamblu.

"-Oare unde e Nessie?" intreba ea, brusc; prezenta fetei poate ar mai fi relaxat atmosfera.
