“So,” he started, not really sure what to say, “If your name is Miss Allen—"
"Kenn." "…Then why do you want to be called Kenn? Kennya is more cute." Andrew asked and ignored the interruption and the reaction of the girl when she heard the word cute. "Long story, but it's a nickname," Kennya finished stocking the scratch tickets and turned around. Kath started to make herself busy. The cigarette shelf was full—she had stocked it right after the storm started when she entered the shop—save for the one pack her friend sold to the blond boy. She'd get it later…if she did it at all. She had to leave something for the other man to do when he came in for his shift. "Well," Andrew looked around the store. "I think we have a little while. It doesn't look like the storm's letting up any time soon." ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. For instance, given the choice, we will always choose to save our own necks.” |

"Fine," Kennya sighed as she pulled up a chair and sat behind the counter. "I was in a couple bands in... high school. It's the name I went by and it kinda stuck. All my friends call me that way."
Andrew just sat blinking at the girl for a few moments. "Wow, you're right," the boy started, "That was the longest story I've ever heard. I think it took a whole three seconds to tell." "Fuck you," Kennya laughed, while Khatherine almost choked with her own saliva. Andrew stuck his tongue out at the slytherin girl behind the counter, who just smirked at him. The way Andrew's cute lips pouted didn't get passed Kennya, and she found herself smiling more in this boy's presence than she had in a while. There was just something so youthful about the youth's aura and it made Kenn feel giggly. It was intoxicating. "So, you were in a band?" Andrew leaned on the counter. Every time music was mentioned he was instantly interested. "Yeah, a few. I play the bass," Kennya relaxed into her chair. She wasn't the type to feel calm in the presence of someone she just met, but this boy surely was different somehow. She attributed it to the boy's contagious smile. "No way!" Andrew's face lit up. "I am the vocalist!" "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

"Yeah?" Kenn's smile mirrored Andrew, but she couldn't resist taking a playful jab at the boy. "But, you know, I play good. And she was my band mate one time. She is fierce with her guitar" Kennya pointed to her.
Katherine jumped a little surprised. "Yeah, nobody can beat me. Everyone is an amateur here." "I play good, too! I practice every day…for hours," the blond leaned closer to emphasize his last word. "Eh," the both girls sighed, shaking their heads. "But are you in a band?" they asked in the same time. "No, but you're not in a band right now, are you?" Noticing their close proximity, Andrew pulled back and readjusted himself in the chair. "Uh, no…but that's beyond the point." answered Kath. "I could be in a band if I wanted to. I just…haven't found other guys with the right chemistry," the boy's pout was the cutest thing Kennya had ever seen. "Obviously your bands didn't work out." "No," Katherine's expression darkened a bit. "They didn't." Kennya throwed her a sharp expression. Kath knew he was just a muggle. It was not necessary to know about their problems. ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. For instance, given the choice, we will always choose to save our own necks.” |

"Oh, I didn't mean any offense," Andrew blushed.
"It's alright. There was one band I was in, the last one…I thought for a little while we really could've made it. But it didn't work out. One of the guys made it, though. He's in a band. But not a band you could take pride in." said Katherine. Kennya knew about what band she was talking about . The Death Eaters. She just made a pun. Incredible. "That's so cool! It's still a band after all." the boy's elbows were on the counter now (he was so fidgety, Kennya noticed), and he propped up his head with his hands. "If I was in a band, I'd want it to be a rock band." andrew pulled away from the counter and moved to take off his wet black sweater. It was only making him cold and keeping his skin damp. "Is there a place I can dry this?" "Wouldn't you know it, we have a dryer in the back room," Kennya moved to walk around the counter and take the blond's wet sweater. "For real? Thanks!" Andrew handed the sweater to the slytherin girl and that's when something small on the boy's wrist caught Kennya's attention. The blond felt the younger girl staring at the coloured bracelet but decided not to hide it. "It's a bracelet I take pride in." Kennya looked grim and turned her back. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

Katherine barely nodded, "Pride in…?"
"In... Well, this was from my ex girlfriend. I mean, I think i still care about her, even if she betrayed me" Andrew said somewhat defiantly. "Cool," Kath shrugged her shoulders as she looked at her close friend while she took the sweater to the back room. So the hot kid—he's twenty-two, he's not a kid—was still crying over the lost love. How weak. A tiny smirk planted itself on Katherine's face and refused to let go. The smirk set off a mischievous notion that Kath just couldn't shake, and it turned into a full-blown smile as she looked at Kennya rummaged through the back room in search of something. "Here," the slytherin pointeed to Kennya who tossed Andrew a pair of black pants, small (the smallest ones she could find), and a red and green stripped shirt, extra small. "You can borrow these until your clothes are dry." "Seriously? Thanks!" the boy looked around for a moment, "Um…" ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. Kennya shared a evil smirk with her best friend. She felt so mean...
"Staff washroom behind that door," she pointed to the grey swivel door she had previously disappeared through and resumed her position behind the counter. "Throw your clothes in with your sweater." "Awesome." Andrew practically skipped to his destination. He was in such a good mood, and he attributed it to Kennya's kindness and the fact that she didn't immediately treat the boy differently when she saw the bracelet. what he didn't knew it was that she was such a tease. Some people were still so closed-minded; Andrew was just thankful that the girls weren't. The blond was also thankful that, if he had to seek shelter in any gas station, that Kennya of all people was working. The girl was kinda cute, like a tsundere. She looked colde on the outseide, but in the inside she was a very warm person and Andrew didn't mind the eye-candy while he waited for the storm to pass. The smiling boy returned from the bathroom, after adding his wet clothes (remembering to empty his pockets) to the dryer and made his way over to his seat near the two girls. Kennya looked up right at the perfect moment to see the uniform pants slip slightly off Andrew's bronze hips, and the youth had to grab the waist to keep them up. The blond smiled sheepishly and a faint blush crept across his cheeks. The two girls shared a mischevious smile over his back. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

"They're too big," Andrew voiced as he flopped on the chair.
"It's the smallest pair we have. You should just be thankful, you know. Technically we're not supposed to loan those to you; we can get into trouble." said Katherine smirking. The boy's face fell, "I'm sorry! I don't need to dry my clothes if—" "Relax," Kath smirked even more. "The security cameras have been broken for a week so unless you go blabbing your mouth no one will ever know." "Oh. Thanks, by the way." "Don't worry about it," Kennya waved him off. "It's no big deal." A comfortable silence fell between the three of them until Andrew looked at the round wall clock that hung above the cigarette case behind Kennya. "I hope this storm doesn't last much longer.” "Why's that? Chilling with me has become boring?” Kennya feigned hurt. "No. I'll miss Spiderman if I'm here much longer,” the blond folded his arms on the edge of the counter and rested his chin in the crevice it created. "You'll miss—what?” the slytherin girl wasn't sure if she had heard correctly. "Spiderman," he repeated warily. He knew his obsession with the superhero wasn't healthy, but he really didn't want to miss tonight's episode. It was the second part of a "To Be Continued" and he needed closure! The two girls exchanged confused expressions. ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. For instance, given the choice, we will always choose to save our own necks.” |

"Muggles these days..."
"The what?" asked him surprised. "NOTHING" the two girls said in unison. "Just...a private show we are whatching together." "And you're twenty-two?” Kenn looked at Andrew skeptically as she folded his arms over her chest trying to change the subject. "What?!” the blonde's tone was indignant, but he never moved from his position on the edge of the counter. It only served to make him look even more childlike. "Nothing," the slytherin girl tried to suppress a giggle because Kennya was pretty mature and never giggled, "it's cute.” "Is that so?” the boy sat up, a playful smile tugging on his lips. "Yeah," Kenn nodded. Feeling a little braver, Andrew leaned forward as if to divulge a treasured secret. "So are you," he whispered. "Really?" Kennya cocked her brow. She wouldn't have chosen that word to describe herself, and if the blonde had more time he wouldn't have chosen that word either. However, he thought that using sexy was too straightforward even if that was what he was thinking. "Well, you know…" Andrew had the decency to blush. "I mean…" "Yeah, yeah, whatever," Kennya threw him a playful glare. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

Katherine lowered her head towards her friend while Andrew looked interested at some smiling paper and whispered.
"Are you flirting with him?!" Kennya looked in disbelief at her companion and she stuck her tongue at her. "Yep, you are not the type to flirt with a muggle." Kath winked. Andrew, feeling slightly embarrassed, was silent for a few moments. He only stayed silent until the hum and buzz of the store drove him into a leg-bouncing, finger-tapping, eye-shifting madness. "So…" "You just can't stay quiet, can you?" Katherine stretched out in the chair behind the counter, her joints popping as she did so. "Did you want me to?" "Nah," Kath smiled. "Okay, because I can't really stay quiet," the boy laughed. "I figured that from the moment you opened your mouth." the slytherin said sincere. ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. Kennya, Kath and Andrew's conversation shifted and they talked about everything from the bolnd's unhealthy obsession with Spiderman to Kennya's interest in graphic novels, and from the's current attendance in the Music Program at the University to Katherine's hatred of school. They talked about their mutual love for video games and music. And Andrew talked, a lot. And Kennya listened, surprised to see the depth behind the bouncy little child. She listened to the boy's talk about taking pictures of the sky and how every sunrise and sunset was different, and how each storm held beauty and how Andrew was upset that he didn't have his camera with him.
He was upset that it was so dark outside because, "When the storm settles and the world's impurities have been washed away, even all the ugly things in the world look beautiful," and he wouldn't get to see that tonight. Kennya was surprised, and intrigued. The man was certainly different that she'd ever expected. Thankfully, no one disturbed them. And while the conversation turned flirtatious here and there, it was never quite what Andrew would have hoped for. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
