A bolt of lightning shot through the sky and was followed quickly by a fierce clap of thunder. Katherine was not affected by the storm, but the little girl standing next to her mother at the counter of the gas station was. Her whole body had jumped when the deafening crash had echoed throughout the store, and she began to instantly wail. Paying for her gas quickly, the mother scooped up the child and fled the store for the safety of their car.
"I hate muggles. Why did Kennya wanted us to meet here? it's not her usualy place to be. Or maybe she... No. Can it be? Damn her and her stupid plan. And this weather..." She sighted and leaned on the wall outside the gas station. Where the hell was she? It was almost the time to meet up and to be late was not in her friend character. She was wearing her school robes, and in that time and that place all the muggles who hurried home, looked at the girl quite scared and funny. ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. It was only seven in the evening, but the torrential downpour and the angry storm rolling in made it blacker than the dead of night outside. Kennya could make out random vehicle headlights outside the large panel windows of the gas station. Most of them were slowly creeping down the street. Visibility was shit and only crazy people would bother getting out of their cars to pump gas in a storm like this. The slytherin girl watched the lightshow outside for a while longer, noticing a city bus make a stop at the shelter on the corner. She felt sorry for anyone who had to walk home in this weather. Even for a low life muggle. She looked at the clock from the shop again.
"Where the hell is she? I told her to be here at seven. Maybe she is stuck because of the rain. What the hell I'm saying?! She is a witch for Christ sake. She can apparate without problem." She looked at the man in the faraway corner and pointed her wand at him. "Obliviate!" The man started to go senile and he smiled peacefully at her. "Get out and go home or where the hell you want. The storm will be big." She looked outside the window and saw the little figure of her friend near the entrance. "What the... Jesus Christ. Call that imbecile over there inside. What the hell is she doing there..." "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

Kath sensed a warm hand on ther shoulder and jumped out of fear. she looked at the man in front of her who was pointing desperate to the inside shop. She looked in that direction and Kennya showed a sign of disbelief. The younger skytherin laughed and entered the shop.
Kennya was diverting her atention to the pile of scratch tickets that she had to put in the display case, she began to absentmindedly continue the work of the muggle who just left. Another flash of lighting and a ferocious boom of thunder caused the store lights to flicker just long enough to send every machine into a beeping frenzy. “Fuck,” both girls said in unison and exhaled loudly through their nose as the older one rose from her spot and began fixing the small pop fridges and fountain machines with her wand. The vending machines outside had also suffered from the power loss, but she had no clue how to service them and Kennya didn't look amable enough to get outside in the cold and fix them. She’d have to make a couple of phone calls later, or wait until the next person came in for the night shift, and pray that he knew how to fix them. Wait a second... "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING HERE!!!!??????????" ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. For instance, given the choice, we will always choose to save our own necks.” |

"Helloooo Captain Obvious. It's clearly that I'm fucking bored. it's not like I can go and stay under the sky looking at the stars. And I'm pretty sure that here we eill not be disturbed. We need to talk. Seriously. Do you get what I'm saying? It's too dangerous to talk at school. And even more dangerous outside. But here it's like the perfect place, the perfect moment. Take a seat somewhere near me and put your wand in the poket. Who knows who might come inside."
Just as she said that, Kath seated next to her and she was about to return behind her counter and reset the flashing cash register, the buzzer for the door sounded, signaling someone had entered the store. Both of them looked up curiously to see a soaking wet black hooded figure stagger inside. They immediately tensed and griped their wands from their pocket. The last thing that the girls needed was for some punk kid to try and rob them! “Well…” the hooded figure was winded and tried to catch his breath. Water was dripping off him where he stood. “Please…” Kennya had never heard a robber say please. She looked confused. “The storm is so bad,” he tried to continue. He reached up and pulled his hood down revealing a head of long blond hair that dusted his shoulders. He was completely soaked and his hair was flat and dripping. In her mind the only thing that Kennya had was 'damn! He is hot!' "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

Katherine almost gasped as she realized what thoughts had flown through her best friend mind. This kid was probably seventeen at oldest, and yet the girls couldn’t help but let their eyes hungrily devour the youth. He was short, very thin with a compact frame, and he had the poutiest lips the slytherins had ever seen. His eyes—his eyes were so intense that they screamed passion.. Kennya looked like she was momentarily stunned by the boy’s beauty. What in the world happened?
“I can’t stay out there any longer,” the kid huffed. Normally Kennya didn’t let people hang out inside the gas station because they has important matters to discuss. Actually, very important. No delays, but... It was against their policy, but he wasn’t cruel. It wasn’t like he was some street kid trying to case the place. This kid needed shelter from the storm, and that was a completely different circumstance. Plus, he was hot. Even if it was illegal in every sense of the word, it wouldn’t hurt anyone to look. ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. “Thank you very much!” the kid bowed just a little and then waled to the counter.
“Don’t worry about it,” Kennya returned behind the counter also and grabbed one of the spare chairs. She lifted it over the counter and placed it on the side opposite her so the boy could have a place to sit. He slouched in the chair, leaning into it as he spread out. “A, I should probably buy something so I’m not loitering.” The slyherin girl shrugged her shoulders, “Whatever you want.” It really didn’t matter to her whether or not this kid bought anything. It was not like she worked in that shop. She just wanted a safe and quiet place to talk bussiness. She began resetting the cash register. A long roll of receipt paper began printing out numbers as Kath did her work with some products. Eventually the printing stopped and Kennyaa grabbed the paper to rip it off. She threw it lazily into the recycle bin near her feet and turned to face the youth. “I’ll take a pack of those,” the boy pointed to a small package of cigarettes. Kennya laughed, “Yeah, right. You’re how old? Don’t think so—” “I’m serious!” He pouted. “Alright,” Kennya smirked. She would play this kid’s game. “Let’s see some ID then.” “Fine,” the kid reached for his wallet. He pulled out his ID and handed it to the girl who took it while still laughing. “Ogata Andrew, no? Age twenty-two? Yeah, right. Who did you pilfer this from? Your older brother or something?” “No!” Andrew crossed his arms over his chest and looked quite indignant. “For your information my brother and I don’t look that much alike that I could use his ID. That’s me. I’m twenty-two!” "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

“Oh, sure,” Kennya nodded while Katherine laughed hard and the two of them.
“Thanks!” he bowed slightly again. “I thought if I waited in the bus shelter until the storm passed then I would be okay. But the wind is horrible! I could barely stand. I saw you were still open and made a run for it—” “It’s okay,” Kath said. This one was a talker. The girl wasn’t sure he would mind it because, after all, working alone was too quiet. And it was pretty funny to see Kennya and him clash like that. “I don’t live that far away,” the kid started again, “but I don’t think I could have run home. It’s just too far in this weather.” ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. For instance, given the choice, we will always choose to save our own necks.” |

There really was no denying it. The boy in the ID picture was the same boy who sat across from her. The only difference was that Andrew in the picture had dark hair. Kennya looked over the rest of the ID, mentally storing his address. what the hell was she doing?
“Why, how old did you think I was?” Andrew asked as he unfolded his arms. “Seventeen at the oldest,” Kennya smirked as she reached for a pack of cigarettes, but not the kind the boy asked for. He handed it to Andrew along with the boy’s ID and rang the cost up on the register. “I didn’t ask for these. I don’t smoke Marlboro,” the boldie said as he went to slide the cigarettes across the glass counter top. “You do tonight,” Kennya informed him, arms folded over her chest. “Why?” Andrew's hand was paused above the pack of smokes. “So I can steal one from you later,” the slytherin girl smirked, unfolding her arms and gripping the edge of the counter. She pushed her weight against it, leaning closer to the blond boy in front of him. "Yeah? And are you old enough to smoke? I wanna see some ID," Andrew smirked. He looked like he knew the girl behind the counter was younger than him, but he doubted she was much younger. Andrew pegged her at sixteen, seventeen maybe. Or something like that. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

Katherine started to laugh even harder while she dried the tears in her eyes. It was such a delightful game. Kennya also laughed heartily and reached for her wallet. He flipped open the black leather flap and pulled out her fake driver's license with a malicious smile over her face. It was not like she wpuld give him the real ID. She handed it over to Andrew.
"Kennya Aleen—" "Kenn in the short way." Andrew, who was still smirking, quirked a brow and continued reading, "Birthday: May 09—happy very extremely belated birthday or should I way early—1991. You're twenty-one??!" "Yeah, almost. Twenty one in may." Kennya laughed at her lie. No way in hell she was going to tell him she is still in school. "Holy crap," Andrew mumbled as he looked over Kennya's fake address, mentally storing the information. "Why, how old did you think I was?" the slytherin girl mocked Andrew's earlier tone. ![]() ![]() “We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. She raised her eyebrow.
"Maybe five or seven years younger," Andrew handed the ID back to the black haired girl and slipped her a bill to pay for the cigarettes. He pocketed the cigarettes and the change, feeling slightly better about loitering. That figures. Every time Andrew met a good looking girl there was always something wrong! He hadn't had a decent date for almost a year, and he hadn't had a "real" relationship since high school! And now this girl? Well, she was five years younger than him, he knew from the strat that it was a fake id. He saw one before, yet he didn't dare to tell them this thing. He seemd to go on with the lie. The boy didn't have a problem with the age difference, but he hadn't met a seventeen year old who was ever interested in someone as old and immature—that's what they would say, anyway—as he was. A few awkward minutes passed in which neither of them said anything. Andrew sat in the chair bouncing his leg on the tiled flooring, and Kennya continued stocking the scratch tickets. The rhythmic hum of the florescent lights above, the churning noise of the ice machine in the back of the store, the buzz of all of the pop fridges and freezers, and the crashes of thunder was really starting to bug Andrew. He needed conversation! "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
